Girl, 14, raped as she walked dog in Ilkley wood

Detectives are hunting two men who raped a 14-year-old schoolgirl after following her into Middleton Woods, Ilkley.

The girl had been walking her dog in the busy area of the riverbank before being followed into the woods by the two men as she made her way home on Sunday.

The suspects were seen between 5pm and 6pm in the area of the New Brook Street bridge and the skate park. They were making comments to girls walking past them.

Both are between 5ft 4ins and 5ft 6ins tall, aged about 19, and spoke with a Yorkshire accent.

One was white, and had a distinctive mousey-coloured Mohican style hair cut - short at the sides and long on top and the back.

He was wearing grey, jogging style bottoms which were rolled up to the knees, a grey vest top and black trainers.

The other suspect is black, not as stocky as the other, and had a shaved head. He was dressed all in black, with Nike trainers and had car keys with him.

Detective Chief Inspector Mick Oddy, of West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Inquiry Team is leading the inquiry.

He said: "The girl is understandably upset by her ordeal and is being cared for by family and specially trained officers."

Det Ch Insp Oddy said police wanted to speak to anyone who saw the men in the area. An incident room has been set up on (01274) 376104 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
