BURLEY’S Save Our Library Site Group is holding an exhibition and public consultation in Salem Hall, Burley-in-Wharfedale, on Saturday, April 8, 10am to 4pm.
The group believes the present library building on Grange Road should be retained and improved to meet the future needs of Burley’s growing population. Last November 1,100 Burley residents signed the group’s petition agreeing “that the current library site on Grange Road should not be sold but retained by the village as a community facility”.
The group is convinced that Burley needs both the library site and the Queen’s Hall and has advocated that improvements should be made to both. The proposals on show at the exhibition will, the group say, demonstrate how the building could provide a flexible community space.
A spokesman said: “A reduction in public space when Burley is about to expand is not a logical choice; when it’s gone, it cannot be replaced.”
