SCOUTS have taken part in a sponsored aircraft wash to help fulfill their dream of representing the UK in Switzerland.

Twenty five members of the Burley-in-Wharfedale and Addingham groups got down to work at the Jet2.com hangar at Leeds Bradford Airport.

They were raising funds for their trip to the Kandersteg International Scout Centre in July.

Daniel Rodley, Contingent Leader, said: "The children were so excited to be given this chance to go along to the airport and do something completely different to raise money for what is going to be a truly memorable trip.

"Three of the Scouts have learning or physical disabilities so we require two full time carers to support them. We wanted to secure funding to make the trip affordable for everyone so it’s great that Jet2.com has given us this further fundraising opportunity.

"We’ve managed to raise £8,500 so far, which is absolutely fantastic. The money raised from this event means we can now really look forward to our stay in Switzerland."

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, added: "It was a real pleasure to have the Scouts here at the Jet2.com hangar. They were so enthusiastic and really got stuck into cleaning the aircraft. We wish them all the best for their future fundraising activities and hope they have an unforgettable time in Switzerland."
