A CARE home in Ilkley has been rated 'Good' in the latest round of Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspections.

Abbeydale Residential Care Home in Grove Road scored 'Good' ratings in the Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led categories. It received a 'Requires Improvement' in the Safe category.

Part of the inspection report said: "We concluded that the service was well-led and that the registered manager and provider encouraged an open, caring and inclusive culture.

"People and staff consistently told us the registered manager and provider genuinely cared for the people who used the service and listened to and valued the opinions of their staff.

"Our observations demonstrated that this culture translated into a person-centred philosophy of care."

The home was one of 44 nationwide given an overall rating of 'Good' in the latest raft of reports.

Debbie Westhead, CQC's deputy chief inspector for adult social care in the north, said: "People are entitled to services which provide safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care. If that is what we find on inspection - we give the service a rating of Good, or Outstanding."
