WORK has started on new nets at one of the district’s cricket clubs.
The project at Addingham Cricket Club has been financed by money secured by the Independent ward councillors for Addingham and Craven, councillors Chris Atkinson and Adrian Naylor.
It is anticipated the nets will cost around £15,000 and will be completed in time for pre-season practice.
Craven ward councillor Chris Atkinson, said: “This is a sorely needed investment in the village, given the wet year we had last year it seemed that our teams needed a facility to enable them to minimise any disruption to their training.
“It is a pleasure to work with your other Independent ward councillor, Cllr Adrian Naylor to secure as much investment as we can.
“This has now reached approximately £35,000 covering items such as the flood lighting for the MUGGA.”
