A POET will read his new works on the First World War at a talk in Saltaire.
Simon Armitage has written seven new poems as part of a new BBC documentary commemorating the centenary of the Great War. Mr Armitage will talk about his writing and hear him will read from these new works at ‘Considering The Poppy’ — held at Salts Mill and 1853 Gallery, Victoria Road on Saturday, November 8, from 3.30pm.
He created The poems are inspired by objects relating to seven real-life characters affected by the conflict. each one standing for hundreds of thousands of men who perished in the global conflict.
