The gripping and subtle Russian film Elena is Ilkley Film Society's next screening on Sunday at 8pm at Ilkley Playhouse.
Sixty-year-old Elena comes from a working-class background, but her second husband is a wealthy businessman whom she met while working as a hospital nurse.
Although she now lives in luxury she has worries for her future.
Her husband is tired of subsidising her relatives and she fears he will leave their home to his daughter from his first marriage.
How far will Elena go to protect her family?
The film shows present-day Moscow as a jungle teeming with predators and was a prizewinner at the Cannes Film Festival.
Guest tickets for non-members of the Film Society cost £4 (£2 for students) and can be reserved by telephoning Richard Fort on 01535 653471.
