A fire spread from an out-building to an adjoining kitchen at a house in Rayner Avenue, Heckmondwike, last night.
The house was filled with smoke but one resident, a young man, escaped unharmed. Firefighters were called to the blaze just after 10pm.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by police.
