Man hurt after Cleckheaton English Defence League demo

Police are appealing for information after a series of incidents followed a peaceful demonstration by the English Defence League in Cleckheaton last Saturday.

Soon after the group had dispersed, police responded to reports that the window of the Co-Op in Heckmondwike had been smashed. Two Bradford men, aged 32 and 20, were arrested and have been bailed pending inquiries.

An hour later, a group of men abused and assaulted a 35-year-old Asian man, knocking him to the ground and leaving him with a black eye and bruising to his ribs in Dewsbury town centre. He was taken to hospital and released the next day.
