Police were today investigating a three-vehicle crash in Brighouse that claimed the lives of a father and daughter.
The 37-year-old man and the girl, 15, who last night had not been named by police, died at the scene of the accident in Birkby Lane, Bailiff Bridge.
They had been travelling in a silver Volkswagen Golf which was in a head-on crash with a brown van. A silver Peugeot travelling in the same direction as the Golf – towards Brighouse from Cleckheaton – was also involved.
The van driver was taken to Dewsbury District Hospital, as was the 21-year-old male driver of the Peugeot, who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed while police inquiries continue.
Witnesses to the crash, at around 5pm on Wednesday, should call police on (01422) 337024.
