Members of a knitting group have raised £1,407 for a church roof appeal.
Members of the new ‘knit and natter’ group at St Andrew’s Church, Gargrave, knitted hundreds of scarves, hats, gloves and jumpers, which were sold at a coffee morning.
In September, the vicar, the Reverend Rod Geddes launched an urgent appeal for cash after thieves stripped a large quantity of lead off the roof, allowing rainwater to seep in. Repairs have been estimated at £36,000.
