Detailed plans to refurbish Cowling Recreation Ground will be unveiled at an open meeting later this month.

The management committee has already secured a £5,000 grant from Craven District Council with a promise of match funding from Cowling Parish Council.

Now, with the help of Groundwork, the committee has drawn up detailed plans for the refurbishment, with cost estimates, drawings and possible sources of funding.

They will be on view at an open meeting in the village hall on Tuesday, June 21, at 7.30pm and it is hoped all interested parties and future recreation ground users will attend.

“I think most villagers, young and old, will agree that we need to update our recreation ground and make it fit for purpose for all users,” said Jan Ackroyd, recreation ground chairman. “I hope everybody will assist us to achieve this aim.”

To boost funds, three car boot sales will be held on the recreation ground on Saturdays June 18, July 16, and August 20 from 9am to noon. To book a car boot space, give a donation or offer help, contact Jan on 01535 635550.

Other fundraising ideas include a junior football tournament, a family kite day and a “party in the park”.
