The chairman of Cowling Gala committee has hit out at the village’s parish council over its lack of support for the event on Saturday, July 31.
Gala chairman Ady Green submitted a £500 funding request to Cowling Parish Council in March, but was asked to submit previous years’ accounts before any funds would be granted.
Now Mr Green, a Craven district councillor for Cowling ward, says the gala committee has withdrawn its request.
“The council snubbed us completely last year, so I just tried to build some bridges,” said Mr Green. “But they were telling us how to run it and started asking about other galas.”
