A community has welcomed a new cafe run by volunteers.
Café 106.9 FM, opened in Cowling, near Skipton, by Drystone Radio, flourished during the recent snows and doubled its turnover.
David Adams, one of the community radio station’s directors, said: “We realised the heart of the village had gone and decided it needed a community cafe. It’s run entirely by volunteers and is open seven-days-a-week.”
Community newsletter editor Kirsten Guschal, who organises nearly 20 cafe volunteers, said: “We’ve a good mix of people who use the cafe, including the elderly and mums with toddlers.”
The not-for-profit cafe, which also offers one home-cooked meal a day, is on the first floor of a building next to the old post office on Keighley Road.
