Cowling stonemason Chris Swales has laid his 5,000th tonne of dry stone wall.
He passed the “milestone” while installing a themed entrance for an outdoors shop in Pudsey.
Chris, 28, built the wall as a centrepiece for the entrance of the soon-to-be-opened GO Outdoors store.
The 14-tonne wall took a week to build using stone sourced from Cottingley.
Chris said: “It wasn’t until we’d finished that I realised about the 5,000 tonne milestone.
“Most of my work is at private properties, so I’m pleased this landmark wall will be seen by thousands of customers.”
He has been carrying out stone masonry and lands-caping for just over ten years.
GO Outdoors, is being promoted as Yorkshire’s first themed outdoor superstore. The store will feature a rustic gate and stile for the “complete outdoor inside experience”.
Customers can test footwear on outdoor surfaces and there is a six-metre-high climbing wall.
