Cowling speedway rider Lee Complin is now conscious and talking with his family following his road crash last month.
The 23-year-old member of the Stoke Potters team was this week described as stable by staff at Leeds General Infirmary. His brother James has praised the hospital’s neurology team for its “tremendous” care over the past few weeks.
James, writing on Lee’s website, said: “He’s already been asking about his bikes, but the hardest part was telling him he’d missed the British final.”
Lee suffered serious injuries when his Subaru Impreza left the A629 at Flappit Springs, near Cullingworth, ending up on its roof.
