Craven’s primary school children are all receiving a good grounding in reading, writing and arithmetic, according to league tables published this week.
Every school in Craven had at least 63 per cent of pupils pass both exams, with more than 70 per cent of pupils passing English and maths in the majority of cases.
Carleton Primary, near Skipton, was one of the schools which had a 100 per cent pass rate.
Headteacher Duggie Speight said staff had worked hard to introduce a new curriculum which used games to engage pupils and make learning fun.
“Everyone worked really hard and the children were really pleased when they got their results in July,” said Mr Speight.
“We had a whole new staff last year, apart from two, so we developed a whole new curriculum to try to get these results and it worked.
“We have been really lucky with the group of children we had this year.
“Some of our children actually got full marks in maths. ”
