A restaurant has been highly commended in a quest to find the country’s best South Asian restaurant.

Zaara’s restaurant, in Bradford Road, Shipley, was nominated by the town’s Tory MP Philip Davies as his nomination for the Tiffin Cup – a competition in Parliament each year.

Mr Davies said: “I am delighted that Zaara’s has been highly commended in the Veetee Tiffin Cup. This is such a prestigious award.

“To be honoured in this way is testament to the fantastic efforts of all the staff at Zaara’s, an excellent rest-aurant which I am proud to have in my constituency.”

The Veetee Tiffin Cup winner is chosen from a list of restaurants nominated by MPs. This year 58 restaurants were nominated.

Zaara’s owner Harry Khinda said: “This nomination reflects on all the hard work our team have done since September 2007, particularly as the economic conditions have been against us.

“Our principle has been to never compromise the quality of food or service.”
