An audiologist at Airedale General Hospital has been commended in a national competition for the third year in a row.

Alan Walshaw, a senior audiologist with Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, has received a certificate of commendation and a trophy in recognition of his achievement in the UK Audiologist of the Year awards.

The competition, which is voted for by patients, asks them to nominate someone they feel deserves the award.

Alan, 44, who has worked at the hospital for six years, said: “It is a real honour for me to be thought of so fondly by the patients I care for.

“Looking after someone’s hearing is a major responsibility and it is wonderful to know that my support is appreciated.”
