A police chief has urged residents to help cut crime by acting as the “eyes and ears” of the community and passing on information to officers.

Despite recent successes, police in Silsden, Steeton and Eastburn have vowed not to rest on their laurels and continue to act on residents’ priorities, including under-age drinking and speeding.

Inspector Sue Sanderson said her Neighbourhood Policing Teamwould ensure crime remained low in her Christmas message to residents of Bradford Council’s Craven ward.

She spoke after a police survey placed her team at number one in West Yorkshire for public confidence, crime and anti-social behaviour issues. She said: “We are not resting on our laurels but continuing to move forward, striving for excellence."
