A Steeton woman has been selected from more than 1,100 applicants to work for a charity of her choice.
Lauren Stott, 25, won a place on the Vodafone Foundation’s 2009 World Of Difference UK programme.
She has decided to spend two months working for her chosen charity, Caroline’s Rainbow Foundation, a York-based organisation that raises awareness of personal safety measures for young travellers.
It was set up following the murder of Caroline Stuttle in 2002 while she was backpacking in Australia.
Lauren will begin her placement in April, and will spend her time working as a travel safety awareness promoter, liaising with schools, forming links with youth travel organisations and directly advising young travellers.
