Three housing projects put on hold by the recession have been put on a reserve list for Government funding.

The Kickstart project is designed to help the housing market weather the recession.

Last week it was announced that three projects in the district had been shortlisted. These are a 55-home development proposed by Lowry Homes at Crag View, Thorpe Edge, Bradford; a 124-home scheme by Skipton Properties at Thornhill Road in Steeton, Keighley; and a 30-strong proposal by Incommunities for Menston Hall.

If successful the schemes would receive £3 million and are on a list of 265 projects which could share £550 million. Now it has been revealed that a further three schemes in Bradford have been put on reserve.

These are: 60 apartments by Urban Splash at the Velvet Mill in Lilycroft Road; 50 houses by Hartley Quality Homes in Thornton Road; and 61 houses by Incomm-unities in Woodend Crescent.

Councillor Adrian Naylor, the Council’s executive member for regeneration and the economy, said: “This is great news for Bradford, and will help us meet the targets set for further housing to be built in the District over the coming years as the local population grows.”

The Council has supported the submission of about eight schemes for round two of the Kickstart funding.
