A 12-year-old Riddlesden boy has appealed for support for a planned sponsored jog in aid of the people of Japan.

Pip Greetham, a Bingley Grammar School pupil, was so distraught by the television images of the earthquake and tsunami he decided to do something to help the victims.

He will be sponsored to jog ten miles around the grounds of his school.

He plans to carry out the challenge during the week beginning Monday, April 11.

His mother, Ann, said: “This will be the week of his 13th birthday, so he wants to give something rather than receive. He was quite upset by some of the things shown on the news on TV, so the more money he raises the better. His PE teacher might be doing the jog with him.

“Some of our neighbours have already offered their support and Pip will also be fundraising in his school.

“He’s athletic and plays football, but it’ll be pretty tough for him.”

She added that anyone else wishing to sponsor her son could contact her via email at anninriddlesden@msn.com.
