A horse racing-mad couple who have made a bet on true love will collect a £1,500 payout from a bookmaker if they are still together on their tenth wedding anniversary.
Chris Elrick and Helen Moore, who are getting married at the Marsh Chapel in Oxenhope on Saturday, have been given a free £500 bet by the bookmaker William Hill with odds of 2/1 that they will still be married in 2021.
The couple, from Oakworth, received the surprise gift after asking the bookmaker to supply branded merchandise for one of the tables at their wedding reception.
The bride and groom are decorating all the guests’ tables with different themes that reflect their lives together. Helen said: “Every table means something to us. Chris loves horse racing and we love to go to the races together.
“He is the lucky one out of the two of us and he’s had some good wins. We call him the John McCririck of the family. He’s got an account with William Hill and reads up on all the horses. I just like getting dressed up for the day.”
