A memorial service to commemorate the crew of a bomber aircraft which crashed in Oakworth during the Second World War was staged in the village yesterday.
Oakworth Village Society held the annual event at the Tewitt Lane Memorial to honour the memory of six Canadian airmen who were killed when their Wellington bomber crashed there in thick fog.
Among the dignitaries laying a wreath were Keighley Town Mayor Councillor Margaret Ward and the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of West Yorkshire Richard Jackson. Andrew Friebel, from America, also layed a wreath for a relative he lost in the crash.
