A voting campaign has clinched a £6,000 award for an animal rescue charity.

Haworth Cat Rescue was presented with the money after being chosen as a winner of the NatWest CommunityForce Award.

An online public vote took place to decide which three organisations in each CommunityForce area would receive the cash.

Haworth Cat Rescue campaign manager Corinne Moore said: “For small charities this sort of backing by a major bank is a breakthrough in creating the opportunity for people to demonstrate their support and for this to be turned into a tangible financial benefit.

“We now have £6,000 to put towards our vet bills as a direct result of online voters. Each individual who voted made a difference and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.”
