A 12-year-old boy is to warm up for a world-renowned musician during a concert in Cross Hills, near Keighley.

Alex Coward, of Cowling, will play the treble recorder in advance of the Saturday, May 14, performance at Malsis School by baroque quartet Red Priest.

The quartet features Piers Adam, who has been hailed as the world’s greatest recorder virtuoso.

Red Priest is performing a reinterpretation of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.

Alex, a pupil at Malsis School, also plays the harp, euphonium and piano, and won a place with Yorkshire Youth Choir last year.

He said: “I am very nervous about playing for the very best in the recorder field, but at the same time I think it is an amazing opportunity that I will never forget.”

Tickets cost £18, including a reception drink at 7pm before the concert, which starts at 7.30pm.
