Two grants have helped put a roof over the head of pensioners.
A new roof, costing £2,000, has been installed at Cross Hills Rest Centre at the corner of Main Street and Ryeland Street, in Cross Hills.
A large portion of the roof’s cost has been paid for by two grants – one for £1,100 from North Yorkshire County Council and one for £250 from Glusburn and Cross Hills Parish Council.
“We’re very grateful for the money,” said treasurer Margaret Nicholson. “Re-roofing this building is so important because this centre provides an excellent venue for having local meetings and other events.”
She said the centre was booked to host a coffee morning every Saturday over the next few weeks.
A coffee morning will be held tomorrow from 9.30am to 11am to raise money for the flooding fund at St Peter’s Church.
