Developer to submit business unit plans for Keighley

Derelict former college buildings could be used by start-up businesses as part of a developers’ plans for a run-down area of Keighley.

The Worthington Group, which owns land next to the former Keighley College Harold Town Complex, off Dalton Lane, is set to submit proposals to Bradford Council to turn the buildings into offices for small businesses.

The developer already owns land between Bradford Road and Dalton Lane, known as Chatsworth Works, where it plans to build up to 200 homes.

John Taylor, a spokesman for the group, said if the plans were successful, the group would buy the vacant college buildings from the council.

Last summer, the company put forward proposals for a £30 million leisure, housing and business scheme at Chatsworth Works, but they have now been shelved. The business starter units form part of its revised plans for the overall site.
