A 90-mile marathon may sound pretty gruelling – but for adventurer Ben Thackwray it was just a warm-up.

Ben, 29, of Yeadon, is in training for his attempt to set a new speed record across the ice cap in Greenland – so, in preparation, he put himself to a less ambitious test with a 90-mile run, over two days, which he completed in 16 hours and 28 minutes.

The endurance athlete was forced to abandon the crossing of the ice cap last year after succumbing to severe frostbite which could have led to the loss of his hand.

Ben is preparing to return to Greenland in April, along with fellow athlete Ian Couch, and aims to travel 360 miles in 12 days without any support.
