Converted Ilkley Moor water filter station on market
8:00am Monday 19th March 2012 in Ilkley
A converted Ilkley Moor water filter station, once at the centre of a bid for a new visitor centre, is back on sale with a £700,000-plus price tag.
Former Yorkshire Water building The Pump House, on Wells Road, is being marketed by Hunters Estate Agents as a luxury home with views of the moor and Ilkley landmark Wells House.
The 19th Century building, standing on the edge of Ilkley Moor, has been featured as one of the UK’s hottest properties of the moment in numerous publications and housing websites, says Hunters.
Yorkshire Water subsidiary Keyland Developments gained planning permission to convert the building to a house several years ago, despite calls from some local councillors to turn it into an Ilkley Moor visitor centre.
It was bought and developed by Kingsford Homes, before being sold to a private owner in 2008.
Hunters says the distinctive home is “straight out of a James Bond movie”.
