Ben Rhydding fundraiser aids children of East Africa
11:11am Tuesday 19th July 2011 in Ben Rhydding
A total of £5,000 has been sent to help children in East Africa after an annual event in honour of a charity fundraiser.
The cash raised at Pat’s Party in Ben Rhydding has been sent to Save the Children’s emergency team responsible for providing help to the hundreds of thousands of children affected by the current drought on the continent.
Party organiser Vic Sedlak said this year’s event was even busier than usual and had been a very successful day.
The next big Save the Children event in the town will be Pat’s Bonfire held in the paddock at the end of Moorfield Road, on Saturday, November 5, at 6pm.
This year is ticket-only entrance costing £6 for adults and £3 for under-16s, who must be accompanied by an adult.
Pat Evans, from Ilkley, died in 2005, and there have been charity events in her memory ever since.
