A body found following a full-scale search in the Lake District is believed to be that of a 55-year-old fisherman from Beamsley, near Addingham.

Mark Bryant, was last seen at Ullswater, Cumbria, at about 1.30pm on Tuesday.

His partner raised the alarm when he failed to return to the Side Farm campsite in Patterdale, near Ullswater, where he was staying.

The Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team began a search and found Mr Bryant’s dinghy early today between the pier and the mouth of Glenridding Beck on the eight-mile-long lake.

Following a day-long search, a body which has been informally identified by police as Mr Bryant’s, was discovered after 8.30pm.

Inspector Paul Coulson of Cumbria Police, said: “We have discovered a body in the lake. That body has been recovered and had been informally identified as our missing person.”
