Overhead powerlines are to be replaced with underground cables in one of the most dramatic locations in Yorkshire.
The 5.2km length is to be removed from the foot of Whernside, near Ingleton, as part of a pioneering £5m partnership between the North West’s regional power distribution company Electricity North West, United Utilities and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
It will involve the removal of some 61 separate spans of overhead line and 60 wooden poles between Twisleton Hall and Kingsdale Head.
