Young people in Wyke have volunteered to play a big part in a scheme to spruce up their local environment.
The Bradford Council scheme will see a Big Clean-Up event in the cemetery at St Mary’s Church.
The youngsters from Shirley Manor Primary School will join residents, Bradford South Neighbourhood Wardens, the local area Clean Team and volunteers from Bradford Council’s Youth Service.
The first event will attempt to improve the area around the church.
Residents are invited to come along to help between 9am and 2pm on Saturday.
Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, executive member for environment and culture, said: “This is the first step towards a Junior Wardens Scheme, supporting young people and the community to improve the area. This clean-up will show others that local householders care about the future of their local environment.”
