A 40-year-old man is on trial at Bradford Crown Court accused of sexually abusing three young girls.

Ajij Ahad denies repeatedly raping an 11-year-old girl at his then home in Wyke, Bradford.

Ahad, now of Galloway Lane, Pudsey, also pleads not guilty to indecency with that child and a second girl and indecently assaulting a third. The alleged offences are said to have taken place between 2001 and 2002.

Prosecutor Richard Woolfall told the jury yesterday that Ahad raped the first girl after grooming her by flirting with her and saying how good she looked. He alleged Ahad bought her clothes and cigarettes and said that if she told anyone no-one would believe her.

The court was told that Ahad had a conviction dating from 2004 for possession of child pornography.

The trial continues.
