Little Macey Newbury is the apple of her grandma’s eye after raising the alarm when she knocked herself unconscious.
The quick-thinking nine-year-old, a pupil at St Peter and St Paul’s School in Yeadon, brought Carol Brophy, of Undercliffe, a glass of water, a pillow and an ice pack after she banged her head while cleaning.
She also used her grandma’s mobile phone to find contact numbers for her parents and grandfather and when Mrs Brophy regained consciousness she was surrounded by concerned relatives.
Mrs Brophy said: “I’m very proud of her. She didn’t panic. She had the sense to go through my phone and call her parents.”
