A Bradford primary school has become the second this month to be lifted out of the failing special measures category.
St Francis Catholic Primary School, in Myers Lane, Swain House, was criticised by Ofsted in July last year for inadequate teaching, poor governance and inconsistent levels of progress among pupils. There was a history of underachievement, the report said.
Inspectors have now visited the school unannounced for a full inspection after three monitoring visits. In their findings, published yesterday, they rate the school as satisfactory.
Inspector Katrina Gueli said: “The school has improved rapidly.
“All aspects of provision are now good and this has resulted in accelerated pupils’ progress in all year groups.”
Head teacher Daniel Copley, who had been in post for a short time before his school was put in special measures, said he was delighted with the report.
He said: “This very positive report reflects how we see the school and gives us pointers as to how we can further improve.”
Farfield Primary School, Buttershaw, was also recently taken out of special measures. It leaves two Bradford schools – Feversham and Thornbury – in the bottom category.
