11:58am Thursday 1st July 2010 in Swain House
Almost 100 Bradford school children are travelling to Birmingham to perform at shows celebrating the country’s young musicians.
They will take part in two different performances as part of the Music for Youth’s National Festival next week. More than 12,000 pupils from across the country are involved in the celebrations.
The festival includes concerts, workshops and conferences.
Children at Home Farm Primary, in Clayton, Wellington Primary in Dudley Hill, and Swain House Primary in Bradford, will take part in a football-inspired, show called SCORE! at Birmingham City football ground on Monday.
Eleven students from the Senior Percussion Ensemble (Batteria), of Education Bradford’s Music and Arts Service, then perform at the Birmingham Conservatoire next Wednesday.
Tony Johnson, head of the Music and Arts Service, said: “Education Bradford’s Music and Art’s Service is very proud to be involved in such a prestigious and large scale event. We’re delighted to be celebrating the National Year of Music in 2010.”
