A baby born prematurely as her mother battled for her life after becoming critically-ill with swine flu has finally been allowed home.
Miley Amber Brewin was due on January 24 but arrived on November 4 as her mum Jodie Brewin, 20, fought for her life in Bradford Royal Infirmary.
The tot weighed only 2lb 8oz at birth, but now at just over 5lb 6oz she has been discharged from the special care baby unit at BRI, to be reunited with Jodie, who lives with parents Paul and Sue Brewin, and her sister and brothers in Ravenscliffe, Bradford.
The pair are being visited daily by a home care team and although Jodie, who was discharged from hospital before Christmas, is still weak from her ordeal, it is hoped she will make a full recovery.
Jodie said: “A big thank-you to the ICU staff.
“We will miss them all and a big thank-you to my mum, dad, sister and brothers.
“I love my baby girl and I am very happy she is home with us, safe and well.”
New grandma Sue added her thanks to the special baby unit at BRI. “They couldn’t do enough for us,” she said.
“It is exciting to have them both at home and together at last.”
