Hunt for motorist in Tyersal road rage incident
8:50am Tuesday 26th June 2012 in Tyersal
Police are hunting a car driver who mowed down a moped rider in a road rage incident.
The 23-year-old man was pushing his moped on the pavement when he was knocked down by a green Vauxhall Corsa.
The victim suffered a fractured ankle and cuts, but detectives say he was fortunate not to have been more seriously injured in the incident, which took place at about 10am last Friday in Dick Lane, Tyersal, Bradford.
After hitting the man, the Corsa was driven off at speed. The victim was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Officers have since recovered the Corsa from an address in Holme Lane.
They believe the offence took place following an argument between the driver and rider shortly before, and officers are investigating the possibility the collision was intentional.
Detective Inspector Nicola Bryar, of Bradford South CID, said: “This was a serious incident which could have resulted in far more severe injuries to the victim in what must have been a very scary experience.
“We are treating this matter as an assault and would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or the circumstances leading to it, to contact us on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
