A man had his cheekbone broken in a road rage attack in front of his teenage daughter.

He was driving a red Rover 216 in Dick Lane, Tyersal, Bradford, with his 16-year-old daughter when his car was overtaken and blocked by a dark-coloured car.

The driver of that car, an Asian man, got out and began arguing with the 46-year-old father, before threatening him and punching him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground.

He was left shocked and needing medical treatment by the ordeal, a police spokesman said.

Police yesterday made a public appeal for witnesses to the attack at about 11am on Sunday, December 4. PC Richard Simpson, of the Bradford South Volume Crime Unit, who is the investigating officer, said: “We know that the suspect returned to his vehicle and drove off at speed towards the Thornbury roundabout.

“He is described as Asian, about 5ft 9in with a moustache and short beard. He was wearing a long black overcoat, a black woollen hat and jeans.

“The victim received treatment for a fractured cheekbone and was obviously left shocked by the ordeal.

“Since this incident we have made numerous inquiries and we are now calling on the public for further information.

“I am particularly interested in speaking to anyone who has seen the registration of this vehicle and can help us to trace it.”

Anyone with information should call the crime unit on the non emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
