A disused church in Bradford is being turned into an £1.2 million enterprise centre, encouraging entrepreneurs to start up their own businesses.

The Wright Watson Enterprise Centre will open in the Thorp Methodist Church, Idle, and offer business support, workspace and resources for very early stage business development.

In addition the project will house an agency to help difficult-to-reach groups in the community into employment.

Just another sign of the sad decline of churchgoing these days.

How about setting up some youth clubs to get the bored kids off the street corners. Now that would be money very well spent.

I was brought up in Idle and Thorpe Edge estate in the 50's when it was first built. There were so many churches and chapels then I doubt if I could remember them all now. Most had a youth club or similar attached to them.
Even when I was a teenager in the 60's I managed to play football for 3 different youth clubs at the sametime, in different leagues of course.
What went wrong?

Be quiet, you daft racist.

Oh, and any Church belonging to the Protestant 'sect', is akin to failure.

As mentioned earlier, you just have to look at the rules they've broken over the years to see what effect it's having (as can be seen from the article).

Up with the partridge says...

All around the country churches are closing which si not neccessarily a bad thing. Times have changed, there are demands on people's time now on a Sunday and we have stopped making sunday special by having it as a day of rest. Churches like pubs both have a place in our society but half as many but make those twice as good.
