Mavis Sawyer, 73, was in bed at her home in Hastings Street at 3.30am on Wednesday when the front window and door were hit by gunshots in what is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.

An Audi Quattro was later found with damage consistent with a shotgun discharge.

Yesterday police were in Fairbank Terrace investigating the second attack and talking to residents to create a fuller picture of what happened and to give reassurance.
