These young people showed the short films and music they had created in an eight-day summer school at Challenge College in Frizinghall.
Year Six pupils took part in workshops to help pupils make the transition from primary to secondary school in September. Guests to a celebration event were treated to pupils’ movies, live performances of songs and an exhibition of maps made by the pupils.
The summer scheme was funded by the district’s Extended Schools Partnership and schools-support services firm Education Bradford. It was organised by the school in partnership with education organisations the City Learning Centre, InspirEd and YouPlay.
Sian Harris, headteacher of Challenge College, said: “This year we have put the emphasis of the summer school onto fun activities but keeping it based at the school with a focus on literacy. We want the new pupils and their families to feel part of the school.”
