Students unveiled a new dining area which they designed themselves to a celebrity chef today.
Yorkshireman Brian Turner met Year 11 pupils at Challenge College in Frizinghall, Bradford, who had come up with the concept for the Neon Diner as part of their GCSE coursework.
Last year’s Year 10 art and media students worked on the design with department head Tristan Antoine and resident artist Shanaz Gulzar, before the blueprints were turned into reality over the summer holidays.
As well as new seating and tables, the teenagers designed vinyl food graphics, produced by Bradford firm LW Graphics, which sets out the different cultural dietary needs of pupils.
Deputy head teacher Val Cattrell said: “The children enjoyed seeing Mrf Turner. He talked about how impressed he was with the fact that they had designed it on their own.”
