A Bradford man has been jailed for four years after he violently assaulted another man and robbed him of his scooter.

Damien O’Keefe, 26, of Leeds Road, Eccleshill, robbed William Ambrose of items including a scooter, a helmet, gloves and a wallet in Idle on May 25 last year.

He was sentenced by Judge Jonathan Rose at Bradford Crown Court yesterday to four years in prison.

Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Ryan Bragg, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “This was a particularly nasty offence in which the victim was chased and subjected to a violent assault by the offender who made off with his property.

“We are pleased with the sentence which reflects the level of violence used in this offence and clearly demonstrates that those who think it is acceptable to behave in this fashion can expect substantial punishment from the courts.”
