Police have warned householders not to leave doors and windows unlocked after a handbag was stolen from a Bradford pensioner's house.
The thief sneaked through an open door into the detached house in South View Road, East Bierley, unbeknown to the 79-year-old resident who discovered the theft on Monday morning.
Detective Constable Neil Johnson, of Dewsbury CID, warned householders to be vigilant even when they are at home.
He said: "Don't make it easy for these people. It is tempting to leave doors open in the hot weather, but it is a good idea to shut and lock a door when it is out of sight."
Anyone with any information about the theft, which occurred between 3pm on Sunday and 9.15am on Monday, should call Dewsbury CID on (01924) 431085.
