Young writers have performed their work before a panel of judges in an X Factor-style contest.

Twenty-four finalists from eight Bradford primary schools, aged between seven and 11, attended the X Factor Writing Competition Final at St James’ Church Primary, in Allerton.

Every child in Year One to Year Six from all eight schools entered the competition at the start. Carol Satterthwaite, an education consultant for the Exciting Writing project, a programme commissioned by the schools, organised the event.

Poet, Pie Corbett, was head judge of a panel which included Denise Faulconbridge, the managing director of Education Bradford.

Some children read their stories and used images, sound effects and drama to enhance them, while others prepared video clips.

Children took part from Allerton, Clayton C of E, Clayton Village, Ley Top, St James’, Keelham, Girlington and Thornton primaries.
