Volunteers have got Christmas wrapped

A Christmas hamper project run by volunteers will ensure about 1,000 Bradford children will have a better Christmas this year.

The project, which is now in its sixth year and is co-ordinated by Linda Adams, will see about 300 hampers delivered to families of needy children in Buttershaw, Delph Hill, Ravenscliffe, Greengates and Woodside areas.

The hampers – which contain food, pyjamas, hats, gloves and presents for the children – are funded by money donated by the Variety Club, children’s charity Circle and the Sir George Martin Trust.

They will be delivered by the Bradford motor education project.

Linda Adams, who started the project six years ago, said: “This year the presents should really have the wow factor. More than 1,000 children who would receive very little or nothing will have a present to open.”

Although the project is nearing its end the volunteers are still looking for a provider of selection boxes to complete the hampers before Christmas.
